All composite models in the range are priced at £3378* for a standard construction kayak. This lay-up is the most suitable for general use and is an excellent balance between weight and durability. Your kayak will survive for decades, despite the usual levels of abuse, wear and tear that you may inflict on it each time you use it. Sharp rocks lurk just below the surface around the West Country coast, and and concrete slipways can be especially brutal. So if you prefer paddling your kayaks to fixing them, I would strongly recommend buying a stock kayak that has been built to suit your environment. You’ll be able to choose from a wide range of colours so will find something that suits your taste.
Custom kayaks, offering factory-fitted optional extras, special art work and lighter lay-ups are also available from Sea Kayaking UK. A lightweight kayak will need to be used more carefully and may not last as long. As a general rule, the lighter the kayak, the more expensive it will be. You should expect to spend at least an extra £400 per kilo of weight saving. Custom kayaks are available to special order, and lead times are running at well over six months. Please be prepared to join a long waiting list if you want a custom kayak. If there is something special you want that doesn’t appear on the price list just get in touch with me.
Finally, it is likely that prices will continue to rise due to high global demand and increases in the costs of materials, wages and energy. So if it’s in your mind to buy a new kayak, don’t delay – do it now!
